Choeng Mon Beach is our favourite spot in Koh Samui, partly because it is so sheltered, but not secluded. It is heavenly idyllic, a small island invitingly winks at you to paddle over with a kayak, and on the beach you won't be smothered by crowds. Resorts in Choeng Mon are the luxury type ranging from intimately romantic to amazing family retreats.
Because the area does not feature budget accommodation it attracts mainly families, honeymooners, and couples who have outgrown the need to turn a paradise island holiday into a rave party. However devoid of serious nightlife, Chaweng is only 10 minutes away in case you do develop the need to spend a night in Koh Samui's rocking club scene.
For shopping you also won't need to go far with the area ideally positioned with Fisherman's Village only minutes to the north in Bophut, and Chaweng's markets and lifestyle mall 10 minutes south.
To dine somewhere other than at your resort, the Choeng Mon area features a number of island style eateries on the beach which offer entertainment at night, plus there are many cafes and restaurants throughout the area.
