Looking at a map of Hua Hin, the royal resort town is located 200 kilometers south-west of Bangkok on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand. It runs parallel to an endless 25 kilometer white beach stretching from its neighbouring town Cha-am at its nortern end to Khao Takiab in the south where the beach ends againts a rocky hill (Monkey Mountain) which is adorned with a larger than life golden Buddha image.
If you should veer off from the main road running through the town (Petkasem Road) just before entering the town's Takiab extension which also sports some fine beachfront hotls, you could circumvent the hill cutting off the beach and enter another extension of Hua Hin namely Khao Tao which is made of up of two shorter beaches, one of which is sheltered and hidden and makes for relaxing days without any hindrences. Hua Hin's main beach is home to some of its best hotels, including names like Centara Grand Beach Resort and The Hilton, both walking distannce to markets, restaurants and Hua Hin's quint nightlife. The Sheraton is another resort with a spectacular location a short 5 minute drive from the town centre and sports a multi award winning, lagoon size beachfront pool.
