Need to know where is Khao Lak and how to get here? This captivating area is located on Thailand's west coast, just 90 minutes by road from Phuket airport and two hours north-west of Krabi. With an international airport, Phuket is the primary arrival point for most and from here, buses, mini buses and taxis transfer visitors right to the front door of their beach resorts in Khao Lak. Krabi also has a domestic airport, so if you are heading for its shores after a visit to Khao Lak you can fly from here to locations such as Bangkok or even Chiang Mai and Koh Samui.

Alternative the area can also be reached from Phuket by boat should you rather spend two or three leisurely hours at sea. Splitting your holiday time between Phuket, Krabi and Khao Lak will be a good option. The area is a scenic treasure showcasing verdant forest, lime stone mountains, rivers and waterfalls that can be seen during hikes or elephant safaris in the area's national parks. Nearby islands can be visited with daily organized boat trips. Heading down to Phang Nga Bay and asking a local to take you on a sightseeing trip in his traditional longtail boat, cruising among limestone outcrops, caverns and small islands is the stuff life time memories are made of. Do make a point of visiting Khao Sok National Park while you're here and stay over in a floating lake cabin. It's an experience bar none.
